Spring in Cornwall
14th April 2008 - photos in North Cornwall
The Sycamore tree is leading the race to produce leaves, especially where there is some shelter from the wind.
Impressive cones on the fir tree
This tree is fairly exposed - in direct line of the prevailing wind from the Atlantic. It has lost a few branches over the years but still produces impressive cones.
The hazel and hawthorn are earlier than usual, despite the very cold weather in April. January and February were very warm, maybe that's why these trees are in a hurry ...

As you sleep peacefully tonight, at around 1 a.m. your time, I will be running about covering as many plants as possible. Another late freeze is on the way. It caught me off guard last spring but hopefully I'll save a few things this year. If only I could cover the crabapple trees. They're almost in full bloom. A gardeners nightmare. Woe is me.
Chance
Would a bonfire help? Or fleece?
